Jammu, June 22: Prof. Govind Singh, Head of the Department of Mass Communication and New Media, Central University of Jammu was today given a warm send off by the faculty members of varsity, in a informal function organized at Sanik Colony.
A function was organized by over three dozen faculty members like Prof.Rasal Singh, Dr.Yashwant Singh, Dr.Vinay Dhiman, Dr.Bachha Babu, Dr.Ajay Singh, Dr Shashank Shukla, Dr.Govind Inakhiya, Dr.Durga Rao, Dr J Jagannathan, Dr Arvind Yadav, Dr Ratnesh yadav, Dr Vandana Sharma, Dr VINAY Shukla, Dr Naresh Sahama, Dr Pawan, Dr Audesh Bhatt, Dr Ashit Mantri, Dr. Vishal Pathania and Dr ravi wangri etc. attended and some of the faculty as well Senior Journalist of J&K attending online. The faculty members present on the occasion showered praises over the tenure of Prof. Govind Singh and also expressed dismay over his decision to leave the University. A memento was also given to Prof. Singh during the send off ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, faculty members explained in detail the glorious journalism career of Singh and the contributions made by him during his tenure as Professor in the CUJ especially Head of MCNM department. Being active in the field of journalism for over three decades, Prof. Govind Singh had served in several national dailies as editor. Prof. Singh had joined (on Deputation) in the Department of MCNM, CUJ in the year 2016 and became Head of the Department.
Under his tenure as Head, the Department of MCNM had taken long strides in the field of academics, research work, research projects, in giving practical exposure to the students about journalism industry and field studies. Due to his excellent organizational skills, Prof. Govind Singh was given several important academic duties such as making him Dean of Schools besides other responsibilities. Given his calm and cool nature he was much beloved among students as well as faculty members.
In view of his academic excellence and his contribution to the growth of the department, the administration of Central University had appointed him as permanent Professor in the department in December 2019. But after only seven months of permanent regularization as professor, Prof. Govind Singh decided to leave the University.
Meanwhile, Jammu Kashmir Study Centre, RSS Jammu Kashmir Prant, O P Gupta, President
Dr. Virendra Kundal, Vice President, Dr Harshvardhan, General Secretary, Ajay Bhartihi, ex MLC Ajay Sharma, National Academic Coordinator Adv Raunik ji, Head Legal Cell Sanjeev Sharma, PS to MoS Dr. Jitendra Singh, Ashok Kumar and other leaders also organised a function in respect of the Dr Prof. Govind Singh who dedicatedly the department of Mass Communication at CUJ.
