The residents of Janipur area led by Subash Gupta, Corporator Ward 36 of Jammu Municipal Corporation assembled in front of Office of the Chief Engineer PHE Department, B C Road Jammu and raised slogans against PHE Department for ignoring their repeated requests for ensuring proper water supply. The protestors raised slogans against PHE Department alleging that officers of the department are apathetic towards their woe.
The protesters including women alleged that the negligence of the authorities forced them to come on roads.
“The water supply in Ward No 36 and its adjoining areas were affected for the last two years and the officials are yet to resolve it, leaving this area without drinking water for over a month. We visited every concerned official of the Public Health Engineering but they are passing the buck,” said Gupta said.
Jyoti Rani, President Janipur Mandal said that the repeated requests to the PHE Officers to address drinking water issue yielded no result. She asked the administration to solve the drinking water problem without any further delay.

“The people at the helm of affairs don’t feel the sufferings of common people. We are being forced to survive under severe water crisis for the last two years. We are again asking the officials to pay heed to our pleas otherwise we have to take some harsh steps against their negligence,” said Subhash Gupta.
The protestors warned the PHE authorities to resolve their issues by replacing old pipeline so that the people of the area would get regular water supply without any hindrance failing which they have no others to come on road.
