Notorious criminal detained under PSA

Samba, July 16: Samba Police on orders of Divisional Commissioner Jammu detained a notorious criminal under public safety act (PSA).
According to police, the accused person was wanted in many cases registered against in Police Station Vijaypur. “Notorious drug peddler Yogeshwar Singh son of Yashpaul Singh resident of Udh Mandi, Gurha Slathia Tehsil Vijaypur District Samba, involved in number of drug smuggling cases/ criminal activities and is posing great threat to the health of the general public was detained under PSA”, a Police officer told, adding that the accused is involved in illicit trafficking of narcotics drugs psychotropic substances destroying the future of young generation by supplying them narcotics and affecting their physical health.
“Recently viral video of subject came to fore wherein he threatened the people of the locality that he is not going to shun his criminal activities and threatened those who will come into his way. The subject has become potential and grave threat to the public order and activities of subject are highly prejudicial to the security of the State”, the officer said, adding that the activities of the subject are sending wrong signal to the society and encouraged the like-minded persons especially the youth to join his gang of illicit drug smuggling in different areas of the district.
“The accused is involved in a number of drug smuggling/criminal cases registered against him including FIR No. 47/2015 U/S 307/341/382/147 RPC, 3/25, 4/25 Arms Act of P/S Vijaypur. FIR No. 32/2017 U/S 341/323/34 RPC, 4/25 Arms Act of P/S Vijaypur. FIR No. 116/2017 U/S 8/21 NDPS Act of P/S Vijaypur. FIR No. 51/2018 U/S 8/21 NDPS Act of P/S Vijaypur. FIR No. 106/2020 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act of P/S Vijaypur”, he said.
“A dossier was prepared by Senior Superintendent of Police, Samba and forwarded to Divisional Commissioner Jammu who formally issued the order of his detention under the PSA. The detention warrant was executed by a Police team of Police Station Vijaypur on 14.07.2020 and the accused has been lodged in Central Jail Kot Balwal, Jammu”, he added.
