Early Times Report

JAMMU, July 18: A female Sarpanch of Block Kishtwar today resigned from the post alleging discrimination by the Block Developmental Chairman (BDC) and block Development officer (BDO) Kishtwar. According to a press release issued by Kamlesh Kumari, Sarpanch Panchayat Halqa Pochhal A-2 claimed that after bearing brunt of atrocities and hatred based social discrimination and finding no safeguards from the caste based discrimination with stigmas inflicted up on her and her family, she resigned from the post.
“I have been facing social discrimination from the BDC Kishtwar Suresh Sharma, BDO Kishtwar Sheetal Sharma and JE RDD Block Kishtwar Vijay Parihar”, Kamlesh said in the her statement, adding that she was given an opportunity to participate in local government popularly known as PRI and being elected by the peoples as sarpanch.
“I am very much dedicated towards my work and never surrender before the evil. For last couple of months I am continuously pressurized by the BDC chairman Kishtwar for doing the corrupt practices. But when I categorically refused to indulge myself in corrupt practice as my moral do not allow me to violate the norms of PRI, lateral BDC chairman called me in his office in presence of BDO Kishtwar and other panches and curse me on the basis of my social identity”, she claimed in the statement and added that he also used un parliamentary language to demolish my modesty, even he physically hit me publically and called me as untouchable, while other officers/officials and PRI representatives remained mere spectators. “The written complaint had been filed against BDC chairman at Police station Kishtwar and other offices of higher authorities, but no action has been taken yet as the administrative machinery of district Kishtwar work on the mercy of these politically affiliated persons”, she said, adding that for last couple of weeks BDC chairman and other officials were continuously harassing her, which put a huge stress on her resulting in my cardiac disorder.
