Five fresh deaths push COVID-19 death toll to 236 in JK, 441 fresh cases reported

SRINAGAR, July 18: The death toll due to Corona Virus in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 236 as five more people died due to the virus in the past 24 hours. The union territory reported 441 fresh cases of COVID-19 today. Reports said that one death each was reported from Kulgam, Anantnag, Pulwama, Budgam and Bandipora districts of the Kashmir valley. The Kashmir valley has so far reported 218 COVID-19 related deaths while as number of such deaths in Jammu are 18. Srinagar has reported highest number of 59 deaths.Reports said that Srinagar reported 124 fresh cases of Corona Virus followed by Baramulla 63 cases, Pulwama 48 cases, Anantnag 47 cases, Budgam 41 cases, Shopian 27 cases, Kulgam 25 cases, Ganderbal 16 cases, Jammu 15 cases, Samba 12 cases, Rajouri six cases, Bandipora five cases, Doda four cases, Kathua three cases, Kupwara and Udhampur two cases each and Reasi one case.
The Jammu & Kashmir government through the media bulletin informed that 441 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 43 from Jammu division and 398 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 13,198. Also five COVID-19 deaths have been reported from Kashmir Division. Moreover, 607 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 44 from Jammu Division and 563 from Kashmir Division. Out of 13,198 positive cases, 5797 are active positive, 7,165 have recovered and 236 have died; 18 in Jammu division and 218 in Kashmir division. Out of 4, 98,007 test results available, 4, 84,809 samples have tested negative till date.
Additionally, till date 3, 26,536 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which included 38,750 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 13 in hospital quarantine, 5,797 in hospital isolation and 43,480 under home surveillance. Besides, 2, 38,260 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 2611 positive cases, 1982 active positive, 570 recovered, 59 deaths; Baramulla has 1,527 positive cases, 631 active positive, 848 recovered, 48 deaths; Kulgam has 1,140 positive cases, 325 active positive, 791 recovered, 24 deaths; Shopian has 1082 positive cases, 320 active positive, 744 recovered, 18 deaths; Anantnag has 1032 positive cases, 335 active positive, 679 recovered, 18 deaths. “Pulwama has 842 positive cases, 368 active positive, 463 recovered, 11 deaths; Kupwara has 833 positive cases, 287 active positive, 533 recovered, 13 deaths; Budgam has 749 positive cases, 343 active positive, 388 recovered, 18 deaths; Bandipora has 428 positive cases, 94 active positive, 329 recovered, five deaths and Ganderbal has 267 positive cases, 152 active positive, 111 recovered, four deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 584 positive cases, 179 active positive, 394 recovered, 11 deaths; Kathua has 352 positive cases, 112 active positive, 239 recovered, one death; Rajouri has 339 positive cases, 229 active positive, 109 recovered, one death; Samba has 328 positive cases, 153 active positive, 174 recovered, one death; Udhampur has 324 positive cases, 32 active positive, 291 recovered, one death; “Ramban has 318 positive cases, 95 active positive, 223 recovered; Doda has 158 positive cases, 74 active positive, 82 recovered, two deaths; Poonch has 152 positive cases, 27 active positive, 124 recovered, one death; Kishtwar has 68 positive cases, 40 active positive, 28 recovered and Reasi has 64 positive cases, 19 active positive, 45 recovered,” reads the bulletin. Out of 13,198 positive cases in J&K, 3,202 have been reported as travelers.
