Early Times Report

Anantnag, July 27: The Maternity and Child Care Hospital in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district was vandalized by the relatives of a 30-year-old woman who died after undergoing surgery there allegedly due to medical negligence.
Angry relatives of the deceased lady broke the window panes of the hospital and vandalized the property inside the Government hospital.
They alleged that the deceased lady wasn’t treated in time. “They (Doctors) kept telling us that the deceased lady was faking the pain and she is alright,” relatives of the deceased lady told the media.
They also held protests against the doctors and the maternity hospital. The family members said that the deceased could have been saved, but it was only due to medical negligence that more people are dying in the hospital.
Rozy Jan, resident of Gadhanzpora in Bijbehara was admitted to the hospital with labor pain a couple of days ago and had delivered in the hospital on 27th of July however on Wednesday morning a patient complained of dyspnea. [Dyspnea is an uncomfortable abnormal awareness of breathing]
Doctors at Maternity and Child Care Hospital said that the patient was immediately attended and provided treatment. “Patinet was attended in time however she needed to be shifted and for that critical ambulance was called but the attendants hampered the shifting process by attacking the staff and damaged the property of the hospital,” doctors told Early Times, adding that the patient died at around 7:00 am in the morning.
This isn’t the first time that a pregnant lady has died at Maternity and Child Care Hospital. Even during this pandemic, the hospital hogged headlines for instances of medical negligence and death of pregnant ladies.
In multiple cases of medical negligence, the administration had ordered probes but none among them has reached a logical conclusion as not a single doctor was faced action despite the committees’ proving faults.
