Dogri Sanstha, Team Jammu lambast Prasar Bhaarti for undermining Dogra identity
7/28/2020 11:40:26 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, July 28: Lambasting certain vested elements working in Prasar Bhaarti and making attempts to demolish the rich Dogra culture and language, Dogri Sanstha, Jammu and Team Jammu today demanded withdrawal of recently issued orders that spell doom for Dogra Culture and Dogri Language.
Addressing a hurriedly called joint press conference, here today, President, Dogri Sanstha, Jammu, Professor Lalit Mangotra and Chairman, Team Jammu, Zorawar Singh Jamwal informed that “recently two orders dated 29 June 2020 (F.No. 01/07/2020-P1) and 21 July 2020 (F.No. 01/07/2020-P1) have been issued by Prasar Bhaarti, New Delhi. Both these orders spell doom for Dogra Culture & Dogri Language”.
Professor Lalit Mangotra and Zorawar Singh Jamwal explained that “The import of the first order is to replace the eight hour telecast of the DD National programmes from Jammu Door Darshan Kendra with the telecasting of Kashir Channel from Srinagar, and the second order is intended at shutting down the Jammu Door Darshan’s local telecast of four and half hours and replace it again with the Kashir Channel.
The two orders, seen together, tantamount to completely shutting down of programmes on Dogra Culture, Dogri Language and other matters pertaining to Jammu region. In other terms this is an all out attempt towards decimation of Dogra identity”.
They further highlighted that the valorous and peace-loving people of Jammu, who are patriotic to the core and have given exemplary sacrifices for the country and nation, including maximum number of supreme sacrifices, have been treated shabbily and unjustly both by the erstwhile J&K State Governments and the Kashmir-centric Governments at the centre relegating them to the status of 2nd class citizens in their own country.
“However with the change of the State of J&K to Union Territory, the people of Jammu, who had welcomed this change, were expecting that now at last Jammu will get justice & dignity long denied to it,” said Professor Lalit Mangotra and Zorawar Singh Jamwal, further lamenting, “But, the said orders of Prasar Bhaarti, have sadly belied the hopes and expectations of Dogras, and on the contrary are aimed at belittling their language & culture. These orders exhibit total ignorance on the part of those who are at the helm of affairs about socio-political, and geographical situation of J&K and they appear to be totally insensitive & oblivious to the great sacrifices that Dogras have rendered for this country”.
“They must know that Kashmir & Jammu are two distinctly different regions having different languages, different cultural ethos & different life styles. That is why J&K is the only state having two capitals Jammu & Srinagar. Shutting down of the local Dogri programmes from Jammu & imposing Kashmir channel, which has negligible content pertaining to Jammu region, is not only gross injustice to Jammu but also a step fraught with very dangerous consequences,” warned Professor Lalit Mangotra and Zorawar Singh Jamwal.
Dogri Sanstha, Team Jammu and people of Jammu region urge upon the Prasar Bhaarti and the Central Government to immediately rescind the said orders. The state political leadership of all parties is also appealed to urgently intervene and get these orders immediately rescinded. It is also demanded to set up a new Duggar Channel for Jammu region on the lines of Kashir Channel for Kashmir.
