SRINAGAR, July 29: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir saw a record number of Corona Virus deaths in a single day as 15 people died due to the virus in the past 24 hours. At the same time 540 new cases of COVID-19 were reported today.
Following the recent deaths the death toll due to Corona Virus in Jammu & Kashmir reached 348 and the number of positive cases in the union territory is 19,419. While 323 COVID-19 deaths have taken place in Kashmir 25 such deaths have occurred in Jammu division. Srinagar tops the chart with 103 deaths.
Reports said that Srinagar reported five fresh deaths followed by Baramulla and Anantnag three deaths each, Bandipora two deaths and Jammu & Budgam one death each. As on date Kishtwar and Reasi are the only districts in Jammu & Kashmir that have not reported any Corona Virus death so far.
Reports said that Srinagar reported 203 new cases of COVID-19 followed by Pulwama 67 cases, Jammu 49 cases, Budgam 45 cases, Rajouri 33 cases, Anantnag 26 cases, Baramulla 20 cases, Kathua 17 cases, Kulgam 15 cases, Samba 12 cases, Udhampur 10 cases, Ramban eight cases, Doda and Reasi six cases each, Poonch and Kishtwar five cases each, Shopian four cases and Kupwara, Bandipora & Ganderbal three cases each.
The Jammu & Kashmir government through the media bulletin informed that 540 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 151 from Jammu division and 389 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 19419. Also 15 COVID-19 deaths have been reported; one from Jammu division and 14 from Kashmir Division.
Moreover, 437 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 70 from Jammu Division and 367 from Kashmir Division. Out of 19,419 positive cases, 7,749 are active positive, 11,322 have recovered and 348 have died; 25 in Jammu division and 323 in Kashmir division. Out of 6, 15,380 test results available, 5, 95,961 samples have tested negative till date.
Additionally, till date 3, 64,207 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 47,469 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 12 in hospital quarantine, 7,749 in hospital isolation and 39,947 under home surveillance. Besides, 2, 68,682 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 4,476 positive cases, 2,565 active positive, 1,808 recovered, 103 deaths; Baramulla has 1,835 positive cases, 459 active positive, 1,309 recovered, 67 deaths; Kulgam has 1,491 positive cases, 302 active positive, 1162 recovered, 27 deaths; Shopian has 1,416 positive cases, 330 active positive, 1,066 recovered, 20 deaths; Pulwama has 1,363 positive cases, 655 active positive, 689 recovered, 19 deaths.
“Anantnag district has 1,258 positive cases, 284 active positive, 950 recovered, 24 deaths; Budgam has 1,228 positive cases, 523 active positive, 680 recovered, 25 deaths; Kupwara has 1069 positive cases, 305 active positive, 744 recovered, 20 deaths; Bandipora has 678 positive cases, 231 active positive, 435 recovered, 12 deaths and Ganderbal has 387 positive cases, 138 active positive, 243 recovered, six deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 989 positive cases, 445 active positive, 528 recovered, 16 deaths; Rajouri has 633 positive cases, 412 active positive, 219 recovered, two deaths; Ramban has 533 positive cases, 280 active positive, 252 recovered, one death; Kathua has 511 positive cases, 180 active positive, 330 recovered, one death; Udhampur has 427 positive cases, 123 active positive, 303 recovered, one death.
“Samba has 404 positive cases, 182 active positive, 221 recovered, one death; Doda has 265 positive cases, 132 active positive, 131 recovered, two deaths; Poonch has 197 positive cases, 56 active positive, 140 recovered, one death; Kishtwar has 134 positive cases, 80 active positive, 54 recovered and Reasi has 125 positive cases, 67 active positive, 58 recovered,” reads the bulletin. Out of 19,419 positive cases in J&K, 4,206 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 metres from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
