Early Times Report

SRINAGAR, Aug 24: Despite tall claims of administration that elected local bodies representatives would be given due respect, these people are being ignored and in fact their recommendations are not considered and not to talk of honouring them.
In March this year Bansi Lal Bhat, President Municipal Committee Pampore wrote a letter to Director Urban Local Bodies Kashmir and submitted that Executive Officer, Municipal Committee Pampore should be shifted to some other place. Bhat in the letter wrote that working of the Municipal Committee Pampore has been adversely affected due to posting of incumbent Executive Officer.
“After the posting of present Executive Officer namely Shakeel Ahmad Shah, the working of the Committee has suffered adversely, which has created an atmosphere of indiscipline in the Committee, he is not even able enough to carry out routine affairs of the Committee,” reads the letter written by Bhat.
The letter further reads, “The people of the town generally and the respected citizens and other forums in the town are immensely annoyed with the attitude of the present Executive Officer. He is also not good towards the employees of the Committee and all employees are suffering badly due to his posting in the Committee.”
He goes on to say that an officer of good integrity is posted as Executive Officer of the Committee.
Although more than five months have passed since the letter was addressed till date no action has been taken and Shakeel continues to be Executive Officer of Municipal Committee, Pampore.
This is despite the fact that Executive Officer has been in news for wrong reasons and the employees of the Committee have been carrying out protests against him on regular basis.
The President of Municipal Committee Pampore also shot a letter to Dheeraj Gupta, Principal Secretary, Housing & Urban Development Department on March 16, 2020 and requested for transfer of Executive Officer, Municipal Committee, Pampore. This letter too has received cold shouldered response with the Executive Officer staying put.
The FALAH BEHBOOD COMMITTEE, Pampore has also written many letters to the people at helm asking them to remove the Executive Officer, Municipal Committee Pampore. The Committee has also been releasing letters and communication to media highlighting the alleged bungling carried out by the Executive Officer.
A letter released on August 14, 2020 alleged that illegal and unchecked constructions have been going on in the town along with encroachment of state land.
The release alleged that Executive Officer is tainted one and needs to be removed at the earliest. It was also alleged that ‘tainted’ Executive Officer is a mere Sanitary Inspector and cannot be made Executive Officer since vigilance organization has lodged cases against him.
