Chairing a meeting held to review the working of these business units, he asked the management to adopt the modern technology of doing business, including interlocution of online service and give attractive discounts to customers to compete in the market.
The meeting was attended by Registrar Cooperative Societies, J&K, Asif Hamid Khan; Additional Commissioner Kashmir, Tassaduq Hussain Mir; General Manager of Anantnag, Baramulla and Jammu Cooperative Banks, GM Citizens’ Cooperative Bank, General Manager Super Bazar along with other officers and officials of the department.
The Principal Secretary advised for refurbishing the business of Super Bazars by adopting all the innovations and technologies currently utilized by the private players. He maintained that all the Super Bazaars are located at commercially viable places and have a great potential of doing business. He asked them to open these bazaars during commercially active hours.
Navin also directed the Registrar to look for opening of new stores at busy government office complexes with huge footfall of people. He asked for holding regular Board meetings of these business establishments to facilitate their smooth working. He emphasised to run the merchandise as per business calendar and not as per the government holiday calendar. “Keep all the groceries and stationary items available in your stores that are in maximum demand” he directed.

The Principal Secretary further urged the employees to put the assets of the department to best use. He sought the details of assets and liabilities of the recently wound-up JAKFED so that the infrastructure is put to good use by the government.
The Principal Secretary asked the MD Cooperative Banks to explore the possibility of merger of the small cooperative banks so that the institution become strong and the share holder base increases.
He further suggested for holding a meeting with NABARD to look for any proposal for revival of these banks. He asked them to explore the ways and means to cut the losses.
