Early Times Report

Rajouri, Sep 9: The Health Sub Centre at far flung area of Dhara Sanwala in Rajouri district is facing acute staff shortage. A Female Multipurpose Health Worker has been running the centre while other employees deployed there have got themselves attached at their choicest places.
The Sub Centre is situated in remote area of the district near Line of Control and the condition of the road is so bad that it is not motorable.
In the name of staff, there is a FMPHW Chander Prabha. She has been looking after the sub centre for the past two years, while the other sanctioned staff members of the health centre have managed to move to other places by using their contacts, sources said.
They further said that the staff members, who have managed to get themselves attached at other places include a Female Multipurpose Health Worker under NHRM and a Pharmacist, while a sweeper, retired in April, 2020.
“The Sub Center is in a pathetic condition. During rainy season roof leaks. There is only one bed in the center with few medicines which are insufficient to cater to the requirement and there is no other furniture. The bottle of betadine ointment is without any label,” they said further adding that the salaries of the employees who have moved out are being withdrawn from this sub center.
Locals alleged that there is no facility of minor stitching for that they have to go to Rajouri hospital, which is 40 kms from this area. Whenever the FMPHW has to go out due to some official work, the center remains closed. Moreover, there is no signboard at this sub centre.
BMO Manjakote Dr Mahmood, when contacted in this connection, said that FMPHW has been sent to makeshift centre, and she was attached on the instruction of ministers of previous government, while the pharmacist has been deployed for COVID care but fact of the matter is that COVID-19 started this year whereas the he was attached two years ago.
CMO Dr Sunil, when contacted said that he is new on this post and he is not aware of it. He further said that he would enquire about and only then will be able to comment on the issue.
