Early Times Report

REASI, Sept 9: For the past one month or so an important document pertaining to development of road in a village in this district is gathering dust at the office of Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) Reasi and as a result of this people of the village continue to suffer.
On August 5, 2020 Block Development Officer, Pouni submitted the document relating to estimates for demand of funds to the office of ACD Reasi and since then no action has been taken. In the document the estimated cost of development of road along with a culvert has been mentioned but ironically there has been no forward movement. In the document it has been written that estimates have been made technically and they have been checked by Executive Engineer REW for demand of funds. It has been written that the estimated cost of construction of road from PMGSY road Sudheen to Tartila Morh with two small culverts in Kothian Panchayat is 10 lakh rupees.
It has also been mentioned that estimated cost of construction of culvert with 25 metres approach at Sudheen near Mandir Bowli ward number seven is Rs. 2.90 lakhs. It was expected that swift action would be taken in the overall interest of people but that did not happen.
The document was prepared after repeated representations by people especially the local Sarpanch Neelam Kumari Sharma. The document had to be submitted to the office of Deputy Commissioner Reasi so that the road could be constructed. Since it has not been submitted the road could not be constructed so far.
The residents of Sudheen village have to walk on foot for two and half kilometers before they could reach connecting it with other villages. Few days back a woman died after she was bitten by snake. In case there would have been a road she would have been shifted to hospital and maybe her life could have been saved.
ACD Reasi Anirudh Sharma said that his office has received the estimates document adding that follow-up action would be taken very soon. In the meantime, Sarpanch and other locals have urged the DC Reasi Indu Kanwal Chib to intervene in the matter and order for the construction of the road bringing relief to Sudheen villagers.
