Srinagar, Oct 7: Asserting that women can create a congenial atmosphere in the Jammu and Kashmir, Apni Party (JKAP) on Wednesday said unfortunately, they have been the worst sufferers of the violence during the last three decades in which they witnessed a tumultuous situation.
Welcoming social-political activist Tanveer Fatima alongwith dozens of her women workers from Sopore constituency into party fold in Srinagar today, Provincial president of AP Mohammad Ashraf Mir said that women have an important role in the society so their representation in electoral politics is a must.
"Unfortunately, the women in Kashmir have been the worst sufferers of the violence during the last three decades in which they witnessed a tumultuous situation," Mir remarked, adding that women in J&K especially in Kashmir valley can now play an important role in creating a congenial atmosphere for peace and prosperity.
Muntazir Mohi-ud-Din, state secretary also emphasized on the role of women in peace and progress in any civilized society and highlighted the Apni Party's programmes for women empowerment.
He observed that the Apni Party believes in gender equality and will leave no stone unturned in ensuring equal rights for women across the J&K.
"Apni Party has a clear policy vis-?-vis the role and responsibility of women in a democratic process.
The women can play a pivotal role in disseminating our policies and programmes at the grassroots level which can ultimately cause a change on the ground," he observed.
On this event, Tanveer Fatima pledged to work relentlessly to promote the Apni Party's agenda among the people in Sopore and its adjoining areas so as to enable the people to make a distinction between different political parties operating in J&K.
She said that people should give a chance to the Apni Party and feel the difference.
