Face-off: Teaching community versus SED
Teachers to hold 10 day ‘Satyagrah’ to wake up authorities
10/7/2020 11:38:34 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 7: The government teachers have reportedly decided to take the path of ‘Satyagrah Movement ‘against the School Education Department for their continuous overlooking of their genuine demands, which they have been fighting for the last many decades.
In order to bring the entire teaching community together to fight for their long pending demands, which have been lingering on due to deliberate negligence of School Education authority, the teaching associations have now resolved to adopt a unique way to wake up the authorities from deep slumber by holding ‘Satyagrah’.
Interestingly, this ‘Satyagrah’ movement will not affect any teaching routine activities as per their programme. The movement will continue for ten days which will commence from October 15 to 25, 2020 wherein several activities will be done to make the government realize the problems of the teaching community.
According to the teaching association on October 15-16 will be observed as ‘Pledge Day’ wherein teachers across UT will take pledge to be the part of the ‘Satyagrah Movement’. On October 17-18, lights will be switched off for one hour between 7-8 pm in their homes. Similarly on October 19-20 it has been decided to carry out plant saplings in their surroundings. On 21-22, black mask or black strip will be worn by the teachers as a mark of protest, on Oct 23- 24 fasting for six hours will be observed and on the last day of “Satyagrah Movement” tweets to higher authority in bulk between 7-8pm will be made to remind the sleeping government.
Pertinently, the teaching community has been demanding removal of tag of surplus from teachers, masters, lecturers, holding of DPC which has been withheld since 2014, removal of pay anomalies of all cadres, removal of tag of SSA head teachers from promoted as masters after DPC etc.
