RDA hails functioning of GMC&H

JAMMU, Oct 7: Resident Doctors Association (RDA) has hailed the functioning of Government Medical College and hospital and said that the recovery rate of Covid-19 patients in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory has crossed the 80 per cent mark for the first time since the infections had soared in the region.
Dr Amit Kumar, President of RDA RDA) said that the administration of Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, is working day and night to provide relief to the Covid-19 patients and suspects, resulting in the recovery rate of COVID patients has been cross 80 per cent in the Union Territory.
Dr Amit mentioned that in September 2020, more than 3,200 COVID patients have been recovered and discharged from the government hospitals of Jammu Division out of which more than 1100 has been recovered and discharged from GMC&H and Associated Hospitals.
“Doctors, under the guidance of Principal GMC&H, Jammu, are working round-the-clock to reduce the mortality rate due to Covid-19 pandemic. They also have played an important role in contacting and counseling people who are into close contact with positive Covid-19 patients,” Dr Amit said.
Briefing over the duties and functioning of the GMC Hospital, Jammu, Dr Mohinder, Vice President mentioned that the GMC&H administration has already assigned duties to doctors on monthly wise for the proper care and treatment of COVID patients.
“In view of the present situation, the GMC hospital administration has assigned 24 doctors in the Isolation Ward; 12 doctors in the ICU Ward-3; 12 doctors in Ward 7 along with 4 Registrars; 16 Doctors along with 8 Registrars who are also supervising Ward No.3 in HDU; 16 doctors along with 8 Registrars in the Chest Disease Hospital; 5 doctors along with 3 demonstrators at Gandhi Nagar Hospital and 4 Doctors along with 4 Demonstrators at Psychiatry Ward,” Dr Mohinder mentioned.
Dr Mohinder mentioned that a dedicated Covid operation theatre has also been established at SMGS Hospital for cesarean section of women found Covid positive.
Dedicated staff from Anaesthesia, Gynae and pediatrics has also been posted for proper care to mother as well as to newborn.
Dr Mukhtyar Khan, Secretary and Spokesperson RDA said that the doctors have not been provided any leave since the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic but it is unfortunate that instead of appreciating their work as frontline warriors they have been targeted by various sections of society by different means.
