Advisor Sharma urges elected representatives to play pivotal role in socio-economic development

RAJOURI, Oct 7: As part of the ongoing ambitious “Back to Village programme”, Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, KK Sharma today visited Panchayat Halqa Bhawani-A of Nowshera block of district Rajouri and held interactions with the elected representatives and general public to take stock of the issues and demands of the Panchayat Halqa.
Addressing the locals during the programme, Advisor Sharma highlighted that connecting people with the administration for efficient and smooth public service delivery is the main objective of the 3rd phase of the Back to Village programme, adding that the Government has launched an array of B2V campaigns in order to empower panchayats so that fruits of development percolates at grass roots level.
He also maintained that the Government is keen towards achieving saturation in individual beneficiary schemes and urged upon them to come forward with their developmental aspirations and needs.
During the B2V3 function, a Gram Sabha was also organised in which people from all sections of the society including BDC Chairperson, Sarpanches, panches, senior citizens, retired Government employees, women and youth actively participated. They apprised the Advisor about a number of issues pertaining to inadequate drinking water facility, power supply, better health services, repair and renovation of roads, upgradation of schools etc.
Specific issues like shortage of individual and community bunkers, repair and renovation of road from Jhanger to Sarya, double lanning of road from Jhanger to Nowshera, sanctioning of a veterinary centre, lack of ambulance facility, upgradation of middle School Sarya to high school, poor internet and calling service, special recruitment drive for the youth of border belt were also raised by locals with the Advisor.
The Advisor gave a patient hearing to the grievances raised on the occasion and said that the UT administration is committed to provide all the basic facilities at the doorsteps of the common masses so that they don’t have to visit the Government offices for getting their problems redressed.
He assured the public that their demands and issues have been documented and they shall be redressed at the earliest with the intervention of the concerned departments.
The Advisor also issued on-spot directions to several concerned departments to take the notice of the public issues pertaining to their respective departments.
The Advisor informed the people about different government initiatives and welfare schemes meant for socio-economic empowerment of rural areas.
During the programme, Special Mahila Sabha was also organised in which the issues pertaining to safeguarding the rights of the women and their upliftment in the society were highlighted.
On the occasion, the Advisor also laid the foundation stone of an Overhead foot bridge to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 6 lacs by the Rural Development Department in the Panchayat.
The Advisor also distributed domicile certificates, Inheritance mutation certificates and golden cards among the beneficiaries, besides Skill Development kits were also distributed among the ten adolescent girls of the same Panchayat. He also distributed School bags and stationery kits among the girl students.
