Security forces to use drones on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway
10/7/2020 11:40:38 PM
Early Times Report

Srinagar, Oct 7: In less than a month, three attacks have taken place on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway. The increasing number of attacks is a challenge for the security forces.
The security forces are now using drones and other technology to secure the highway.
“We have been using aerial surveillance in the past. We are continuously monitoring the national highway with the help of drones.
On Monday, two CRPF jawans were martyred while 3 injured in an attack on a Naka party at Pampore. Security forces have increased the vigil on the Highway.
And not only have the number of men in uniform being increased but aerial surveillance would be put in place. With the help of drones, security forces want to keep a round the clock vigil on the Highway.
The Police say that the National Highway is a vulnerable zone and since the flow of traffic is so high, not much can be done with regard to that. Police say checking every vehicle on the Highway is not possible and could be extremely inconvenient to the public.
“National Highway is always full of traffic always and it’s easier for militants to ride on bikes, we can’t be checking every single vehicle as it will cause traffic jams and inconvenience to the public, so we work on specific inputs and then only check,” said Vijay Kumar, IG Kashmir, JK Police.
The deadliest attack ever on security forces also happened on the same National Highway in 2019 in which 40 CRPF soldiers were martyred.
