SDNS suspends Ramlila performance due to COVID-19 pandemic

Jammu, Oct 16: The Management of Sanatam Dharam Natak Samaj, Dewana Mandir Jammu led by its President Anil Kumar Masoom, Chairman Yudhvir Sethi, Ravi Sharma and Satpal Sharma on Friday decided to suspend the performance of Ramlila play in Jammu due to ongoing COVID-19 keeping in protection of person and artists who were talking part their role in performing Ramlila play. Sanatam Dharam Natak Samaj President Anil Kumar Masoom, Chairman Yudhvir Sethi while addressing the media at Dewana Mandir Jammu informed that urged Union Territory administration to grant permission for staging Ramlila performances with the limited number of spectators and social distancing norms in place but we are not ready to take any risk of life of the people participates in the Ramlila performances due to ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in J&K UT as well as across the nation. They said that there are many places in the city where Ramlila performances are being staged for many years ahead of the Dussehra festival in October. "The Ramlila performances in Jammu are hugely popular and draw a large number of visitors, including dignitaries, but this year, the pandemic has cast a shadow of uncertainty over it," they maintained.
