EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Oct 16: National Students Union of India (NSUI) held a protest against Jammu University authorities for not accepting the demand of excluding all extra charges or service charges as mentioned in fee structure set for both UG and PG courses.
The protest was organized under the leadership of District President NSUI, Sunny Parihar. The protesting NSUI activists blocked the University Road and burnt the effigy of Higher Education Department in front of the gate of Jammu University.
Parihar while highlights on the main issue said that from the last two months the students are approaching every competent authority to waive the extra charges included in the fee structure both for private /non-governmental colleges or government colleges but the Vice Chancellor and Dean Academic Affairs is least interested to settle the genuine grievances. Sunny Parihar alleged that private colleges such as KC Law College, Dogra Law College and MIET College threatened their students to pay admission fee otherwise their admissions may be cancelled, adding that it is injustice with the students that they are being forced by the private colleges to pay that amount which violate the norms and statutes of higher education.
He blamed Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and Advisor Higher Education Department for keeping silence over student issues as fee relaxation, unfair charges, job policies etc.
Parihar appealed to Lt Governor to act as Chancellor and frame an independent committee to intervene in this serious issue of violating fee structure.
