One Stop Centre inaugurated

UDHAMPUR, Oct 16: The One Stop Centre (Sakhi) was today inaugurated here in the ICDS office complex by Additional District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Ashok Kumar.
The Centre will provide support to women affected by violence, in private and public spaces, within the family, community and at the workplace and Women facing physical, sexual, emotional, psychological and economic abuse, irrespective of age, class, caste, education status, marital status, race and culture.
Earlier, a delegation from Ministry of Women & Child development led by Dr. Jupaka Madhavi had visited and finalized the logistics for setting up of OSC.
One Stop Centre under Centrally Sponsored Scheme are being established in all the districts of the country.
This centre shall provide emergency assistance and facilitate access to various legal and other services viz.
Police assistance, Medical Assistance, Psycho-social counselling, shelter and other helps to women and girls under one roof to fight against any kind of violence.
A 24x7 helpline No. 9469793363 under the aegis of Jeeney Do has also been setup in the in the Centre.
In his address, the Chief Guest laid emphasis upon the interventions to stabilize the gender ratio and also to implement the PC&PNDT act strictly in the District.
He called for giving wide publicity to Centre through the frontline workers, public and elected representatives.
A number of women attended the inaugural function.
Others present were District Information Officer, Sajad Somberia; DSWO, Priyanka Sharma; CDPO Udhampur, Yash Paul Sharma; CDPO Ghordi, Sanjeev Sharma and officers of ICPS and MSK Udhampur.
