Crime Branch Jammu arrests absconder after 18 yrs

JAMMU, Oct, 29: Crime Branch Jammu arrested absconding criminal Sukreti Gupta wife of Suram Chand resident of H. No. 92, Shanti Nagar Jammu in case FIR No. 09/2005 U/S 420, RPC 138 of NI Act of PS Crime Branch Jammu, after eighteen years of crime, from New Delhi.
She was involved in duping the complainant of Rs. 1. 85 lacs. The said accused was at large and was constantly evading her arrest since FIR was lodged. Charge-sheet of the case was produced by Crime Branch Jammu in the Court of Law on 29-11-2006 against the accused. Thereafter, the Court of Judicial Magistrate 1st Class (Forest) Jammu had declared the accused as absconder U/S 512 CrPC. With meticulous planning and effective coordination by the crime Branch team specific inputs were developed & hideout was raided in New Delhi and she was arrested to face the law. A written complaint of crime in 2002 was reported in Crime Branch Jammu by Complainant - Padam Singh S/o Krishan Singh Jamwal R/o 582/B-5 against the accused. On receipt of the complaint, Crime Branch Jammu had initiated a Preliminary enquiry into the matter and during enquiry the allegations were prima facie established which led to registration of a formal case against the accused among others. During the course of investigation, the allegations were proved against the accused among others and the charge-sheet was produced in the Court of law in Nov. 2006. Since the accused was at large evading her arrest, proceeding U/S 512 Cr.PC were initiated by Crime Branch Jammu through the Court of law declaring her as an absconder. The arrested accused is being produced before the Court of law for Judicial determination.
