COVID-19 recovery rate in JK reaches 91% as 588 more patients get discharged, 551 new cases

SRINAGAR, Oct 29: The COVID-19 recovery rate in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 91 percent as 588 more virus affected patients were discharged today from different hospitals. The number of positive cases reached 93,764 following 551 new cases with the death toll reaching 1466 after 11 fresh deaths.
Srinagar district reported 127 fresh cases of Corona Virus followed by Jammu district 109 cases, Baramulla district 85 cases, Kupwara district 44 cases, Budgam district 22 cases, Ganderbal and Udhampur districts 21 cases each, Pulwama district 19 cases, Kathua district 15 cases, Kulgam district 13 cases, Doda district 12 cases, Bandipora district 11 cases, Anantnag district 10 cases, Poonch, Ramban and Reasi districts eight cases each, Samba district seven cases, Kishtwar district six cases, Rajouri district three cases and Shopian district two cases. Srinagar district reported four fresh deaths of COVID-19 followed by two deaths each in Budgam and Udhampur districts. A death each was reported from Jammu, Baramulla and Rajouri districts. So far 975 virus deaths have taken place in Kashmir valley while as in Jammu division the number of such deaths is 491.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 551 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 197 from Jammu division and 354 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 93,764. Also 11 COVID-19 deaths have been reported; four from Jammu division and seven from Kashmir Division.
Moreover, 588 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 264 from Jammu Division and 324 from Kashmir Division. Out of 93,764 positive cases, 6,928 are active positive, 85,370 have recovered and 1,466 have died; 491 in Jammu division and 975 in Kashmir division.
Out of 22, 61,736 test results available, 21, 67,972 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 6, 54,280 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 16,591 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 6,928 in isolation and 45,229 in home surveillance. Besides, 5, 84,066 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 19,104 positive cases, 1,621 active positive, 17,131 recovered, 352 deaths; Budgam has 5,948 positive cases, 292 active positive, 5,562 recovered, 94 deaths; Baramulla has 5,880 positive cases, 1,495 active positive, 4,241 recovered, 144 deaths; Pulwama has 4,628 positive cases, 197 active positive, 4,351 recovered, 80 deaths; Kupwara has 4,394 positive cases, 417 active positive, 3,905 recovered, 72 deaths.
“Anantnag has 4,212 positive cases, 243 active positive, 3,895 recovered, 74 deaths; Bandipora has 4,017 positive cases, 226 active positive, 3,745 recovered, 46 deaths; Ganderbal has 3,505 positive cases, 207 active positive, 3,266 recovered, 32 deaths; Kulgam has 2,479 positive cases, 94 active positive, 2,339 recovered, 46 deaths and Shopian has 2,188 positive cases, 88 active positive, 2,065 recovered, 35 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 17,349 positive cases, 849 active positive, 16,246 recovered, 254 deaths; Rajouri has 3,185 positive cases, 70 active positive, 3,068 recovered, 47 deaths; Udhampur has 2,670 positive cases, 110 active positive, 2,528 recovered, 32 deaths; Doda has 2,640 positive cases, 133 active positive, 2,462 recovered, 45 deaths; Kathua has 2,425 positive cases, 56 active positive, 2,338 recovered, 31 deaths.
“Poonch has 2,239 positive cases, 242 active positive, 1,975 recovered, 22 deaths; Samba has 2,162 positive cases, 258 active positive, 1,879 recovered, 25 deaths; Kishtwar has 1,890 positive cases, 152 active positive, 1,724 recovered, 14 deaths; Ramban has 1,583 positive cases, 67 active positive, 1,503 recovered, 13 deaths and Reasi has 1,266 positive cases, 111 active positive, 1,147 recovered, eight deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 93,764 positive cases 9,714 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
