Early Times Report

Srinagar, Oct 29: The authorities at the Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) Rajouri have come under severe criticism for allegedly violating the rules for admission to Ph D.
A group of aggrieved candidates who have been denied admission alleged the officials violated the rules to accommodate some blue eyed candidates. The University administration had issued admission notification for Ph D and M. Phil programs this year for around 15 subjects vide notification number No. BGSBU/Acad/20/02. The last date for submission of the forms was 15th of February.
“Last date for sale and submission of Admission Application Forms is February 15, 2020 & with the late fee of Rs. 200/- is February 20, 2020,” reads the notification issued by Dean Academic Affairs. The candidates alleged that the university authorities deliberately delayed the process to accommodate blue-eyed candidates.
“On 15th of March we appeared for a written examination and then on 7th of October we appeared for an interview.
Then the University took almost 20 days to publish the list of selected candidates,” an aggrieved candidate told Early Times.
He claimed that the University has refused to disclose the points they and selected candidates have secured in interview. “We approached the University authorities and requested them to disclose the marks the selected candidates have secured in presentation but they refused,” he alleged.
They alleged that a faculty member, who was chairman of the interview committee, had fraudulently declared one of his relative toppers in the list of selected candidates. Aggrieved candidates claimed that those candidates who had qualified written examination and have published their research work during the M Sc Program in reputed journals were dropped deliberately. “The students projected by the Departmental Research Committee (DRC) have been excluded from the final list,” they alleged.
Candidates said that Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University was the only university in the whole country that didn’t disclose the number of available seats in Ph D and M. Phil programs in its notification,” they said while seeking the intervention of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
Multiple attempts to contact Registrar/controller Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University on phone failed as his number remained out of reach till late evening.
