JAMMU, Nov 3: BJP State Vice President and former Minister Sham Lal Sharma said that the Martyrs have sacrificed their today for securing the future of their countrymen and the nation will always remain indebted to them.
While paying tributes to Major Somnath Sharma, first Paramveer Chakra awardee, on his 73rd death anniversary in a programme organised by Shri Kailakh Jyotish Avim Vedic Sansthan Trust, the former minister said Jammu is land of martyrs and many youths have made supreme sacrifices while securing borders. He said apart from securing border our jawans are fighting terrorism from the last more than three decades. He said that during all these years of turmoil thousands of youths have laid down their lives in the line of duty. He said that the jawans are assets of the nation and so are their families.
The senior BJP leader said that it is the duty of the nation and every individual to ensure that the families of the martyrs are respected and do not face any problem.
The Trust members, while remembering the Martyr, said that due to the martyrdom of Major Somnath Sharma, today Kashmir is with India. They appealed to the Lieutenant Governor to name Kashmir Airport after the name of Major Somnath Sharma.
