DDC Rajouri reviews progress Economic, minor Irrigation & water body census

RAJOURI, Nov 3: District Development Commissioner, Mohammad Nazir Sheikh today reviewed the status of the ongoing 7th Economic Census, 6th minor irrigation census, and 1st Census of the water bodies here at a meeting of the fconcerned departments.
Additional Census Officer Rajouri, Bilal Mir, said that the economic Census is implemented by the Ministry, GOI, and conducted by the states/UTs after every five years.
He added that all establishments including household enterprises engaged in production or distribution of goods/ services in the non-farm agricultural and non-agricultural sectors are enumerated under the economic census.
He also said that the 7th economic census is currently being conducted across the country including JKUT which was launched on August 24, 2019, and was slated for completion in three months. He also informed that the Ministry of Statistics and Programme implementation has partnered with Common Service centers, CSC E-Governance Services India Limited, a special purpose vehicle under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology as the implementing agency for the 7th economic Census.
Highlighting the status of the ongoing economic census, he said that out of 1.90 lacs targeted households only 49980 households have been covered to date.
Citing the reason for the slow progress, he said there is a shortage of supervisors and enumerators in the district.
The DDC directed the Tehsildars and BDOs to play active role in the mobilization of the masses. He asked the Tehsildars were asked to monitor progress on daily basis.
The DDC also directed the Representatives of CSC to hire the workforce to achieve the target.
The DDC directed the Tehsildars, BDOs, and CSC Supervisors to work in close coordination for completing the census work can well in time.
The Deputy Commissioner also reviewed the progress on the 1st water body census and 6th minor irrigation census and directed the Tehsildars and Executive Engineers of Irrigation and flood control to complete the exercise at the earliest.
Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Mohd Ashraf, DSEO, Bilal Mir, Assistant Commissioner Development, Sushil Khajuria, District Panchayat Officer, Chandrakant Bhagat, Executive Engineers PHE/I&FC, Tehsildars and representatives of CSC attended the meeting.
