KVK, Kathua holds workshop on Conserving Petroleum Products

Kathua, Nov 3: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kathua working under the administrative control of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Jammu and overall guidance of Dr. J.P. Sharma Hon’ble Vice Chancellor SKUAST-Jammu today organised one day training cum awareness programme on conservation of petroleum products in agriculture at border village Chan Lal Din, Tehsil Marheen District Kathua sponsored by Petroleum Conservation Research Agency (PCRA) under Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (Govt. of India).
At the outset, Dr. Vishal Mahajan Senior Scientist & Head KVK Kathua welcomed the participants and briefed the farmers about the importance of conserving petroleum products and advocating sustainable practices in agriculture for enhanced income, productivity and fuel conservation.
Dr. Berjesh Ajrawat SMS Extension Education also deliberated on various aspect of fuel conservation especially in the area of mechanization in agriculture which is mostly dependent on petroleum based machinery. Dr. Vijay Kumar Sharma SMS, Animal Sciences emphasize on good driven skills for mechanizing the economy of diesel engines and also stressed on critically important petroleum product such as petrol, diesel and kerosene which may not last for long period if not judiciously utilized.
The programme was attended by Sarpanch of the village Vikram Singh, Naib Sarpanch Suman Lata along with more than 30 farmer. The Sarpanch Vikram Singh thanked KVK for organization of such awareness programmes and also ensured that the maximum benefit of such programmes will be percolated to the end users for maximizing the fuel economy. During the programme film show was also organized.
