JAMMU, Nov 5: Shiromani Akali Dal SAD (Badal) have appealed to the delimitation commission, to reserve two assembly segments Gandhi Nagar in Jammu and Tral constituency in Pulwama Kashmir to be reserved for the Sikhs.
While undertaking the exercise of delimitation of these constituencies our interests be kept under consideration so that our vote bank is not diluted and we continue to enjoy the political representation or have the power to bargain for seat in the state legislature, the press release reads, adding in addition to some other assembly segments our population density is more which can be considered on the same lines in Jammu as well as Kashmir region.
The other via media for this issue can be sorted out if on the pattern of Galancy commission, the nominations of one member each from both the division of Jammu and Kashmir be made to the state assembly to empower Sikh community politically as is done in case of women, Jains, Jewes and others. |
