EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Nov 5: A young girl accused Police Chowki Officer Gadigarh of misbehaving and not lodging complaint against a molester, who used abusive language, tore her clothes and slapped her in full public view. But shockingly when she approached the concerned Police Chowki, she was not listened to and humiliated by the concerned officer.
Narrating her ordeal, the complainant told Early Times that she was misbehaved and molested by a man, who is her relative, when she was going to the coaching center. She further said that when going to the institute, she saw her scooty on the road side, which was taken by her brother for the last two days. “Immediately I went toward my scooty but suddenly a man, who was my brother in law smashed his bike with my scooty and later got off his bike and slapped and thrashed me while also tore my clothes in a fit of anger,” she alleged.
The aggrieved girl further said that when she raised the alarm, the people nearby came to her and tried to catch the person but he managed to escape the place and went to the local Police Chowki Gadigarh. “I also went to the police Chowki but the officer didn’t listen to me and was taking the side of the accused. The Chowki Officer misbehaved with me. Later my parents also reached the Chowki, they were also subjected to abuses and misbehaviour by the police as well as the accused person,” she alleged.
She further maintained that the concerned police officer refused to lodge her complaint against the accused person. “I called a senior police officer and told my story. He asked me to come to Police Station Satwari as he was present there.
I went to the police station and narrated him the entire story but nothing happened there also,” she said further adding that consequently she along with her parents and relatives lodged a protest at Satwari and blocked the road for some time. The police immediately came into action and defused the protest and ordered an inquiry into the matter by deputing an officer.
When contacted the SP Jammu South, said that he had deputed an officer for the investigation of the matter and statements of the both parties will be recorded and accordingly action will be taken. He further said that the role of Police Chowki Officer Gadigarh will also be securitized for mishandling the matter.
