11/6/2020 12:29:56 AM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 5: All India Confederation of SC ST OBC Organizations and National Student and Youth Forum (NSYF) held a press meet at headquarter, Resham Ghar Jammu, today. The agenda was to appraise the administration about the grievances of the students from SC/ST/OBC communities regarding cancellation of scholarships.
In this connection, a memorandum was submitted to the Principal Secretary Social Welfare and it's copy to Chief Secretary, UT- J&K, Director, Social Welfare, Director Tribal, J&K. RK Kalsotra, State President Confederation and patron NSYF, said that the administration is shying away from addressing the genuine demands of the students especially from vulnerable sections of the society. He said that the nature of arbitrary orders highlight the lack of transparency. The students via social media platforms have been highlighting their plight but no heed has been paid till now.
Kalsotra said that these students are totally dependent on scholarships to sponsor their education due to lack of support from their parents.
Thus, if the administration does not disburse the scholarships to the needy, they might not be able to recieve education at all. He demanded that all those who have applied for the scholarship should be given so that they can continue with their education. There are also few students who are denied scholarships even after 3-4 years of application.
