Jammu, Nov 5: Govt. Degree College, Chenani organized a ‘Food Rangoli’ competition on the theme “Grow, Nourish and Sustain Together” on 4th and 5th November 2020 to create awareness regarding nutritional aspects of various food items in an animated way.
Rangoli is a folk art meant to be sacred and used as a gesture for welcoming prosperity and is considered auspicious keeping both the art form and the tradition alive. Students from GDC Chenani and other colleges crafted different Rangoli patterns using grains, lentils, pulses, spices, condiments, etc.
The students created beautiful Rangoli patterns on various concepts of environment, traditional art patterns, animal shapes etc. Dr. Pragya Khanna, Principal of the College quoted that “the aim of the program was to provide nutrition education to encourage students’ ability, motivation and confidence to make choices to care for themselves within the context of their values and resources.
This in turn can support both academic achievement and the long-term development and overall success in life." The organizers of the program were Prof. Priyanka Bala and Prof. Mukeshwar Singh.
