418 polling booths identified for DDC, Panchayat ULB by-polls in Reasi: DPEO

REASI, Nov 5: Deputy Commissioner (District Panchayat Election Officer), Indu Kanwal Chib today said that 418 polling booths have been identified for District Development Council, besides Panchayat and ULB by -polls in Reasi district.
The DPEO was addressing a press conference in connection with the District Development Council/ Panchayat By polls/ ULBs elections in the district.
The Deputy Commissioner said the Jammu and Kashmir State Election Commissioner has announced an eight-phase election to the District Development Councils starting from the 28th of November, 2020. She also informed that By-Elections to vacant Panchayat and Municipal seats would also be held simultaneously.
The notification for the first phase of polling has been issued today. The last day for nomination is 12th November, date of scrutiny is 13th, last date for withdrawal is 16th and date of poll is 28th for the first phase, she said.
She said 418 polling stations , including those for municipal by elections have been identified, where 1.93 lakh people will exercise their right to franchise. She also informed that there are a total of 14 DDC constituencies in respect of district Reasi. She said elections to the DDCs and Panchayat by-polls would be held through ballot papers, while the elections to Municipal seats will be conducted through electronic voting machines.
She also briefed that separate communication, transport plan, security arrangements, COVID plans and other factors have been discussed in detail and finalized.
