UDHAMPUR, Nov 12: To take the stock of Jeevika project conceptualized and implemented in the District, Chairman State Water Resources Regulatory Authority (SWRRA) Jammu & Kashmir, Ghanshyam Jha today conducted an extensive tour of district Udhampur and inspected the project Jeevika at Malhar. Accompanied by a team of officers, Jha also visited Jeevika project site at Malhar constructed under convergence of MGNREGA and other district schemes and interacted with the local farmers and PRIs. He appreciated the initiative of District Administration and stressed on scaling up of the Jeevika clusters to provide maximum benefits of to the people. He stressed on promoting organic farming in all the Jeevika clusters for increasing farm income.
After the field visit, the Chairman chaired a meeting with officers of concerned departments about the implementation of Jeevika project.
At the outset, District Development Commissioner, Dr Piyush Singla gave a brief about the Jeevika project and informed that 250 ponds are being constructed under the project in convergence with MGNREGA in all panchayats of the district. He further said that the project will serve as demonstration model and can be replicated/up scaled by the same farmer as well as by other farmer community through appropriate awareness. The DDC added that these sites present a model for the farmers of District and they are ready to adopt this technology and to shift from orthodox farming to latest techniques. Among others, Additional District Development Commissioner, Ashok Kumar, Chief Planning Officer, Rajeev Bhushan, Assistant Commissioner Development, Mushtaq Chowdhary, DFO, Shavita Jandial, Chief Agriculture Officer, Subash Sharma, Soil Conservation Officer, Jammu Vikas Padha, and other officers of different department were present. |
