Rajouri: DPEO chairs meeting of zonal Sector Magistrates, Officers

RAJOURI, Nov 26: District Panchayat Election Officer, Mohammad Nazir Sheikh today convened a meeting of Zonal and Sector magistrates/ Officers at Conference Hall of PWD Dak Bunglow Rajouri.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Chandan Kohli; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Sher Singh; Additional Superintendent of Police, Liaqat Choudhary; ACD, Sushil Khajuria; Deputy District Election Officer, Parveen Akhter; ENT, Surjeet Singh; Nodal Officers, besides Zonal/Sector magistrates and sector officers’ duty officers were present in the meeting. At the outset of the meeting, the Additional Deputy Commissioner briefed the officers about their role and responsibilities in the election process. He instructed them to follow instructions of ECI in letter and spirit.
The Senior Superintendent of Police also highlighted the important points in connection with elections and security. He said that Police Administration is committed to ensure the safety of the citizens during the time of elections so that they can cast their votes without any fear.
The DPEO also instructed duty magistrates to work in close coordination and update the District Election Authority about the latest positions on law & order and remain vigilant during the election process. He also stressed upon timely update of issues if any and submission of desired information well in time. He also informed that the duty magistrates and officers ensure that all the logistics for the smooth night stay of the polling parties have been made.
The zonal magistrates have also been directed to ensure that all the SOPs guidelines are followed during elections to avoid the risk of COVID19 infection. The BDOs have been asked to carry out the fumigation of the polling stations in the areas of their respective jurisdiction.
The duty magistrates were further instructed to accompany the concerned polling parties.
