JMC starts awareness campaign on SWM

Jammu, Nov 26: In order to streamline the Solid Waste Management process in the Jammu City, the Jammu Municipal Corporation started a massive awareness campaign in the Jammu city to aware the people regarding the need and importance of Solid Waste Management. In this regard, various programmes and Interactive sessions were held in the month of October. The Programmes include: Awareness Programme/Interaction Session with Ward Representatives/Councillor, Jammu Municipal Corporation staff (Sanitary Officers, Sanitary Inspectors and Supervisors) Bulk Waste Generators regarding the Solid Waste Management rules 2019, User Fee Charges, Fine and penalties & the latest Technologies used in BWG for minimizing the Waste. All were also awared about the recent technologies for the waste management in their premises and their role in minimize the waste generation. Further various Workshop on IEC (Information Education & Communication) Campaign were also undertaken among Traders/ Shopkeepers Associations & Hoteliers in wards 50,51,55,56,57,68,69,70,29and 33 in Jammu City.
The Jammu Municipal Corporation has also started a massive task of Door to Door awareness of Households, Commercial Establishments, Industrial Establishments in all 75 wards out of which the work has been initiated in 41 wards in October. In this whole process, the information regarding the need of segregation of solid waste will be communicated to the citizens.
