12/2/2020 11:40:47 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Dec 2: Global Helping Hand today launched "Aarogya ka Abhishek" in continuation with its health mission for eradication of diseases from UT of Jammu and Kashmir.
The mission was launched by Rtd. General KC Mehta (VSM). While launching the mission General Rtd. KC Mehta (VSM) said that he feels privileged to be associated with Global Helping Hand for launching this mission through social media Covid-19 restrictions & administrative adversaries. The inaugural awareness programme is titled as "War against Cancer".

He further stressed that in the present scenario, the Cancer-causing agents are present everywhere and the only way we can save ourselves is by creating awareness amongst the public. The substances that cause cancer are called carcinogens. A carcinogen may be a chemical substance, such as certain molecules in tobacco smoke. The cause of cancer may be environmental agents, viral or genetic factors but we need to bear in mind that in majority of cancer cases we cannot attribute the disease to a single cause.
He further added that the important lifestyle factors that affect the incidence and mortality of cancer include tobacco, alcohol, junk food consumption, obesity, infectious agents, environmental pollutants, and radiation. Approximately 42 percent of cancer cases and 45 percent of cancer deaths in the United States are linked to lifestyle related risk factors including excess weight, poor diet and physical inactivity according to a study released last week. The general risk factors for cancer include: Old age, a personal or family history of cancer, consumption of tobacco & pan masala, alcohol, obesity, some types of viral infections such as human papillomavirus (HPV), specific chemicals, exposure to radiation, including ultraviolet radiation from the sun. Some chronic cancers cannot be cured, but some can be controlled for months or even years. In fact, there is always a chance that cancer will go into remission. But the best way to keep away from the disease is creating awareness about it. Human body is a very intelligent and complex structure and it gives us signals at certain intervals. When a certain disease strikes a human, it does so, irrespective of the caste, creed, sex and nature. So, it is time that we should start promoting the awareness programmes like this one on cancer.
Rtd. General Mehta (VSM) assured that he personally would always be ready to help anyone in need, whenever and wherever required. J.K. Raina Reshi, President, Global Helping Hands thanked General KC Mehta (VSM) for sparing precious time out of his busy schedule for launching such an important and noble mission especially during this pandemic on social media.
Muskan Addl. Gen. Secretary, GHH appealed general public to respond to the signals received by our body regarding any abnormality inside or outside our body. She emphasised that we should be very quick to detect such signals as early detection for the on-time protection & treatment.
Prominent personalities who were also part of the mission were Rtd. Col. Ravi Dhar.
