83 candidates in fray in Aloosa block

BANDIPORA, Dec 6: Eighty three candidates are in fray for Phase-IV of DDC and Panchayat by-elections in Aloosa Block in this north Kashmir district.
District Panchayat Election Officer (DPEO) said that seven candidates are in fray FROM Aloosa DDC constituency while five candidates are contesting on two vacant Sarpanch seats in the block and 71 candidates are fighting for 31 Panch seats.
In the already three concluded phases, 21 Panchs were elected unopposed while three Panch seats are still vacant. In the coming phase, almost 15961 voters will exercise their franchise including 8367 Male voters and 7594 female voters at 42 polling stations of Aloosa, DDC constituency of Bandipora district. Officials said that adequate arrangements have been made by the district administration to ensure smooth conducts of polls.
Also, amid tight security, 42 designated polling parties along with election, poll material were today dispatched to the polling stations set up in Aloosa block.
Meanwhile, the officials from Kupwara district have said that all arrangements have been put in place to conduct smooth elections for phase fourth for which the polling staff and other necessary material have been dispatched. In order to facilitate smooth conduct of election in two DDC constituencies of Drugmulla and Mawer Qalamabad besides ULB Langate, the authorities today deployed polling staff along with material to the concerned polling stations.
SDM Lolab, Aijaz Ahmad Bhat, concerned nodal officer, today chaired a joint meeting of various zonal and sectoral Magistrates for phase 4th DDC and Panchayat by-election in Kupwara district.
The nodal officer urged upon the magistrates and officers to coordinate themselves and ensure that polling starts at 7AM sharp in the morning and shall close at 02 PM.
It is important to mention here that, three phases of DDC and Panchayat by election went smoothly till date; no untoward incident was reported from anywhere in north Kashmir.
No doubt there is serve cold weather conditions across the Kashmir region, and it is expected that snow may fall today late evening in the higher reaches of Kashmir valley, but it is yet to be seen how much polling percentage will be recorded for the fourth phase of DDC elections.
