Kisan Sabha extends support to farmers' agitation
12/7/2020 12:00:03 AM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Dec 6: The Jammu and Kashmir State Committee of Kisan Sabha has extended support to the agitation of farmers launched by the All India Kisan Sangharash Coordination Committee in protest against the anti-people and anti-farmer bills got passed by the Modi Govt. in Parliament ignoring the great resentment against these bills in the country.
The Kisan Sabha Committee expressed anguish over the abandoning of responsibility by the Govt in making procurement of Paddy, maize and other kharif crops from the farmers at MSP or more profitable rates. The traders are exploiting the farmers by offering them rupees 5/6 hundred per quintal lesser rates than that of last year. The Kisan Sabha asked the Government to ensure procurement of farmers’ produce at every Panchayat level and at profitable rates not below the MSP.
The Kisan Sabha Committee has expressed support to the Bharat Bandh call given by the agitating Farmers & Farmers Unions.
In a meeting presided over by its president Hari Chand Jalmeria, Kisan Sabha termed the three Bills as anti-people and anti-farmers in the long run. This effort of those running the Union Govt. is to open gates of free trade to the big business houses in the agriculture sector for profit motive.
The Kisan Sabha asked the Modi Govt. not to pursue the pro-big business houses policy on the subject which would ultimately open the gates of exploitation of the farmers and consumers and put at stake the food security of the common masses living in the country.
The other participants through physical and virtual mode were Dr. Ghanisham Singh Charak, Uday Chand, Master Swarn Singh, Rafiq Shah, Mohinder Singh Andotra, Tek Chand Sapolia, Dewan Chand, Rashpal Singh, Ravi Kumar, Romesh Singh Bhau, Chuni Lal Mistri, Joginder Singh.
