Piece Workers & Contractors Association delegation calls on MD JKPCC
12/9/2020 11:06:28 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Dec 9: A delegation of JKPCC Piece Workers & Contractors Association Jammu, headed by its president Rakesh Jalali again met Managing Director (MD), JKPCC Ltd Vikas Kundal at corporation head office at Railhead Complex, Panama Chowk, Jammu to know about the latest updates regarding liabilities of all the piece workers, sub-contractors & contractors which runs in several crores of rupees.
It may be recalled that the same delegation had earlier met MD on the first day of opening its move offices on November 9 and had apprised him (MD) of the total work liability of all the piece workers and contractors district wise and area wise pertaining to all the Jammu region works, which have already been executed in current year and few of them some 6 to 7 years back & payments still awaited for some or other reason best known to the corporation. During the last meeting on 9th of November, the delegation was assured that all their pending payments shall be released in a quick and phased-wise manner at the earliest. Today, the contractors delegation wanted to know about the developments so far as their pending payments were supposed to be released by now as was promised and assured by the MD in a last meeting, but nothing came up as a viable solution with regard to the payment issues even after the lapse of one complete month. It was again urged by the president of the Contractors Association Rakesh Jalali that JKPCC, instead of buying more time, and further putting all the affected piece workers & contractors in to the trouble, should rather encash a very small & tiny chunk of FDs which have been pledged by the JKPCC Ltd roughly amounting to Rs 200 crore few years back.
The names of the priority sites, where the work progress is badly hampered because of a long list of the liability was reflected jointly by the President of the Association Rakesh Jalali and General Secretary Sunil Kumar respectively before the MD.
