| Polling Staff spreads litter in college ground at Udhampur | | | ashwani sharma

UDHAMPUR, Dec 9: The polling staff stationed at Government Degree College (Boys) Udhampur is openly violating the norms of Swacch Bharat Abhiyan as it is found guilty of spreading litter in the playground of the institution.
Litter including discarded empty water bottles, polythene bags and packets of eatables has been left to scatter in the ground. "After consuming eatables and packaged drinking water they were thrown everywhere on the ground of the college," said an eyewitness.
The area falls under the jurisdiction of Udhampur Municipality which has not bothered to depute few personnel to clear the trash lying in open.
The polling staff has been deputed at the college to oversee the voting to the fifth phase of ongoing District Development Council elections scheduled for tomorrow.
"The polling parties should have made use of dustbins and avoid spreading litter like they have done," a college student said.
Another student said that head of the polling parties should take strict action in this regard and the polling parties should be told in advance to avoid such things. College is our temple and no one has right to convert the college ground into garbage dumping site", he maintained. |
