JK on path of COVID-19 recovery with mere 4.38% active cases as on date, 369 new cases

SRINAGAR, Dec 9: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir is slowly, but surely achieving progress in tiding over COVID-19 crisis as there are just 4.38 percent active cases of the virus as on date. The positive cases reached 1, 14,407 as 369 new cases were reported today; the death toll reached 1,767 following six fresh deaths.
Jammu district reported 89 new cases of Corona Virus followed by Srinagar district 86 cases, Udhampur district 27 cases, Kathua district 24 cases, Baramulla and Budgam districts 19 cases each, Pulwama district 13 cases, Kupwara, Rajouri and Doda districts 12 cases each, Ganderbal district 10 cases, Anantnag and Samba districts eight cases each, Ramban district seven cases, Kishtwar and Reasi districts five cases each, Bandipora, Kulgam and Shopian districts four cases each and Poonch district one case.
Srinagar, Kupwara and Bandipora districts in Kashmir division and Kathua, Reasi and Samba in Jammu division each reported a fresh COVID-19 death. So far 1,136 people have lost their lives to the virus in Kashmir valley while as in Jammu division 631 such deaths have taken place so far.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 369 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 190 from Jammu division and 179 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 14,407. Also six COVID-19 deaths have been reported; three each from Jammu and Kashmir divisions.
Moreover, 342 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 156 from Jammu division and 186 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 14,407 positive cases, 5,016 are active positive, 1, 07,624 have recovered and 1,767 have died; 631 in Jammu division and 1,136 in Kashmir division.
Out of 32, 43,834 test results available, 31, 29,427 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 8, 15,762 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 22,212 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 5,016 in isolation and 27,733 in home surveillance. Besides, 7, 59,034 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 23,911 positive cases, 1,162 active positive, 22,321 recovered, 428 deaths; Baramulla has 7,645 positive cases, 151 active positive, 7,329 recovered, 165 deaths; Budgam has 7,191 positive cases, 303 active positive, 6,784 recovered, 104 deaths; Kupwara has 5,302 positive cases, 189 active positive, 5,026 recovered, 87 deaths; Pulwama has 5,230 positive cases, 175 active positive, 4,969 recovered, 86 deaths.
"Anantnag has 4,635 positive cases, 121 active positive, 4,433 recovered, 81 deaths; Bandipora has 4,502 positive cases, 114 active positive, 4,332 recovered, 56 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,308 positive cases, 164 active positive, 4104 recovered, 40 deaths; Kulgam has 2,618 positive cases, 64 active positive, 2,502 recovered, 52 deaths and Shopian has 2,395 positive cases, 80 active positive, 2,278 recovered, 37 deaths," reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 21,754 positive cases, 814 active positive, 20,622 recovered, 318 deaths; Udhampur has 3,884 positive cases, 413 active positive, 3,419 recovered, 52 deaths; Rajouri has 3,644 positive cases, 230 active positive, 3,364 recovered, 50 deaths; Doda has 3,254 positive cases, 170 active positive, 3,026 recovered, 58 deaths; Kathua has 2,948 positive cases, 117 active positive, 2,787 recovered, 44 deaths.
"Kishtwar has 2,621 positive cases, 233 active positive, 2367 recovered, 21 deaths; Samba has 2,593 positive cases, 263 active positive, 2,296 recovered, 34 deaths; Poonch has 2,414 positive cases, 36 active positive, 2,356 recovered, 22 deaths; Ramban has 2,011 positive cases, 92 active positive, 1,898 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,547 positive cases, 125 active positive, 1,411 recovered, 11 deaths," reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 14,407 positive cases in J&K, 10,930 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
