P.G. College Rajouri Celebrates Human Right Day

Rajouri, Dec. 10: The Science Club in collaboration of Cultural and Literary Committee of Govt. P.G. College Rajouri Celebrated the International Human Rights Day here today.
On this occasion a seminar was organized under the chairmanship of Principal College Prof. (Dr.)
Shakeel Ahmed Raina, in which various speakers threw light on different aspects of human rights
and human duties. While speaking on the occasion Prof. Shakeel Raina underlined the reaffirmation of human rights and more importantly human duties for the holistic and equitable development of every individual citizen of country and world.
He also highlighted the role of United Nations in keeping Peace and Stability in World and upholding Human Rights. “Human rights violation could only be minimized if every member of society fulfill his/her duties to the fullest”, he added.
Dr. Ashaq Malik Secretary of Science Club of the College who was resource person spoke at length about the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), the 30 articles contained in it as well as their classification into civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights. He also explained how these articles are incorporated in various constitutions especially in the form of fundamental rights and duties, and linked United Nations 17 Sustainable Developmental Goals (SDGs) with the UDHR.
The theme of Human Rights Day 2020 “Recover Better-Stand up for Human Rights” is an invitation to work together for the protection and promotion of Human Rights at all levels and addressing SDGs Dr. Sleem Wani from English Department and Fayaz Ahmad Chopan, Lecturer in Political Science also spoke on the occasion. Dr. Anwar Shah Head Department of Botany conducting the proceeding of programme whereas Prof. Iqbal Raina Convener of Cultural and Literary Committee presented formal vote of thanks. Several staff members of the college attend the programme.
