Groom turned up to vote in DDC elections ahead of his marriage ceremony
Kishtwar once again witnessed massive voter turnout in 5th phase

Jammu, Dec 10: The great enthusiasm among the voters in Kishtwar District once again pushes the people towards polling both as two DDC Constituencies that goes for poll today in 5th phase of ongoing DDC elections witnessed 68.27% voting.
The enthusiasm among the people could be gauged from the series of events that took place in today’s election which include a groom who visited to a polling at Thakrie DDC constituency to cast his vote ahead of his marriage ceremony.
As per the details available with Early Times, Groom Sachin Kumar who was about to leave for the house of bride to tie the knot prefer to visit the polling station at Arya Basti Thakrie to cast his vote.
As soon as the groom visited the polling station, the people standing in long queues offered him to cast his vote a head of them as many people who had arrived at the polling station to cast their votes were seen congratulating him for his best event in his life — I.e for going to get married.
Meanwhile the phase V of the DDC and Panchayat By-Election 2020 today ended peacefully under the overall supervision of District Panchayat Election Officer Kishtwar Ashok Sharma for the two District Development Council constituencies of district kishtwar Viz Palmar and Thakrie with a turnout of 68.27%.
Due to fine weather conditions,the election went smoothly across the 2 Constituencies amid administrative and security arrangements.
The polling in this phase was held for 2 DDC constituencies of the district besides for 1 sarpanch vacant seat and for 2 panch seat viz Anjole and Srawan of Thakrie and for 1 vacant Sarpanch seat in Palmar Lower A.
In this phase a total of 8,864 voters were registered for Palmar DDC constituency and a total of 11,810 voters were registered for Thakrie DDC Constituency.
The turnout for DDC polls was recorded at 70.19% in Palmar and 66.83% in Thakrie DDC Constituency besides the turnout for Sarpanch seat at palmar is 58.94% and for Thakrie is 68.73%.
Whereas poll percentage of 82.72% was recorded for vacant panch seats of Thakrie. WhereasThe candidate for vacant panch seat was elected unopposed in Palmar Block.
In the Thakrie Block there were 5 candidates in fray for DDC election and in Palmar 7 candidates were trying their luck.
With the successful completion of first 5 phases now the district administration headed by DPEO Kishtwar is bracing for the phase Vl of DDC and Panchayat by polls to be held on 16-12-2020 for two DDC constituencies of Drabshalla- A and Drabshalla-B , for which Training of the staff has already been conducted.
On two vacant seats of Sarpanch elections, NC and BJP backed candidates won one each seat.
Amena Begum of NC won Sarpanch election from vacant seat of Palmar block— the seat which was earlier represented by the BJP while Rajesh Roshan Sharma of BJP win Sarpanch election from Darbadan Panchayat of Thakrie block.
