SRMSS extends support to Dharmarth Trust employees, asks LG to redress demands
12/10/2020 11:59:34 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 10: Shri Raghunath Ji Mandir Sewa Samitti (SRMSS) supported the demands of Dharmarth Trust Employees Association who are protesting for the last eight days in support of their demand for constitution of public board for all the temples under Dharmarth Trust or merged the same with Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board.
"This is the genuine and justified demand of employees," Rajiv Mahajan President SRMSS told reporters here on Thursday. He urged Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha to bring an ordinance and remove the present structure of Dharmarth Trust and constitute new council by framing new law to run the trust affairs properly and protect the temple's property.
He said that the Dharmarth Trust founded by great Maharaja Gulab Singh in the year 1846 for the upgradation of Sanatan Dharam and run the affairs of Hindu religious matters and which was the part of Govt. deptt. till 1947 up to the last ruler of the state Maharaja Hari Singh.
After 1947, popular Govt should pass by law for this department but Dr. Karan Singh, who became first Sadre-Riyast of the state and then Governor use his power to capture Dharmarth temples and its property illegally and it is admitted by the state Govt. that appointment of Dr. Karan Singh as sole trustee of the trust is illegal in a reply affidavit filed in writ petition No 1154/86 which was withdrawn un-decided by the Dr. Karan Singh and in this circumstances he has no legal right to change the indenture as did in 1994 and make himself as chairman of the trustee and appoint his family member as trustee of this big public charitable trust and selling the trust property being a personal property in an illegal manner, he said.
Hence Samitti demanded from Lt. Governor to Constitute an independent Commission to conduct an audit of all properties of temples under Dharmarth Trust within state and outside made by the person having control on it from 1947 to till date and bring it on white paper so that truth comes out. Samitti ones again strongly demanded from Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha to pass Temple and Shrine Bill which is kept pending by previous Governments due to dirty vote politics which results, about 115 temples under the control of Dharmath Trust with in state and outside state could not be develop properly due to neglect and mismanagement of the person having control on it and it is need of the hours to protect the symbol of Dogra heritage and culture under strong laws as did in 1986 for Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji Shrine by then Governor of the state Jagmohan.
