| Maharajpur-Chowni Abtal road in shambles, department in deep slumber | | |  GURDAS KUMAR

SAMBA, Dec 14: The road connecting Maharajpur with Chowni Abtal, 5 kms from Ramgarh town, is in shambles for the last ten years but the concerned department is in deep slumber as it has failed to start the restoration work of the stretch.
While the work on construction of drains was started a few years ago but it was also stopped midway.
People of the area alleged that the condition of the road is in bad shape due to which the locals of village Mahrajpur and its adjoining areas are facing lots of troubles but the concerned department is not paying any attention towards improving the condition of the road link.
The villagers further said that they also approached the local Sarpanch to make strenuous efforts for the improvement of the road but he only made false promises with them and did nothing in this regard. "Not only the Sarpanch but we also met with the officers of the concerned department as well as former minister and senior BJP leader Chander Parkash Ganga but all our initiatives proved to be futile as nobody bothered to start the improvement work of the road," said a local, Romesh Lal.
"In view of the pathetic condition of the road, no one comes to our village with a marriage proposal for our youngsters," he added.
The locals appealed the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to look into the matter and direct the concerned department to start the work of this road so that they do not face any difficulties. |
