COVID-19 recovery rate in JK reaches 95.96% as 249 more recover; 227 new cases

SRINAGAR, Dec 31: The COVID-19 recovery rate in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 95.95 percent after 249 virus affected patients were discharged from different hospitals today. Out of 1, 20,971 virus affected people 1, 16,079 people have recovered from the virus up to this date.
The union territory reported 227 new cases of Corona Virus following which the total number of positive cases reached 1, 20,971. The death toll due to the virus reached 1,883 as three more virus affected persons died in the past 24 hours or so.
Jammu district reported 70 fresh cases of COVID-19 followed by Srinagar district 51 cases, Pulwama district 19 cases, Baramulla district 16 cases, Kupwara district 12 cases, Budgam district 11 cases, Anantnag and Kathua districts 10 cases each, Ganderbal district seven cases, Rajouri district five cases, Kulgam district four cases, Udhampur and Samba districts three cases each, Bandipora district two cases and Doda, Poonch & Ramban districts one case each.
Doda and Kathua districts in Jammu division and Srinagar district in the Kashmir division each reported a fresh Corona Virus death. So far 1,186 people have lost their lives to the virus in Kashmir valley while in Jammu division the number of such deaths is 697.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 227 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 95 from Jammu division and 132 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 20,971. Also three COVID-19 deaths have been reported; two from Jammu division and one from Kashmir division.
Moreover, 249 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 123 from Jammu division and 126 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 20,971 positive cases, 3,009 are active positive, 1, 16,079 have recovered and 1,883 have died; 697 in Jammu division and 1,186 in Kashmir division.
Out of 38, 22,674 test results available, 37, 01,703 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 8, 85,230 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 13,165 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 3,009 in isolation and 30,739 in home surveillance. Besides, 8, 36,434 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 25,315 positive cases, 569 active positive, 24,296 recovered, 450 deaths; Baramulla has 7,966 positive cases, 118 active positive, 7,676 recovered, 172 deaths; Budgam has 7,604 positive cases, 139 active positive, 7,357 recovered, 108 deaths; Pulwama has 5,554 positive cases, 188 active positive, 5,278 recovered, 88 deaths; Kupwara has 5,531 positive cases, 122 active positive, 5,318 recovered, 91 deaths.
"Anantnag has 4,792 positive cases, 108 active positive, 4,601 recovered, 83 deaths; Bandipora has 4,645 positive cases, 51 active positive, 4,534 recovered, 60 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,469 positive cases, 82 active positive, 4,344 recovered, 43deaths; Kulgam has 2,662 positive cases, 63 active positive, 2,546 recovered, 53 deaths and Shopian has 2,495 positive cases, 93 active positive, 2364 recovered, 38 deaths," reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 23,796 positive cases, 856 active positive, 22,585 recovered, 355 deaths; Udhampur has 4,082 positive cases, 72 active positive, 3,953 recovered, 57 deaths; Rajouri has 3,840 positive cases, 169 active positive, 3,617 recovered, 54 deaths; Doda has 3,386 positive cases, 49 active positive, 3,273 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,196 positive cases, 53 active positive, 3,094 recovered, 49 deaths.
"Samba has 2,747 positive cases, 175 active positive, 2,534 recovered, 38 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,718 positive cases, 22 active positive, 2,675 recovered, 21 deaths; Poonch has 2,445 positive cases, 25 active positive, 2,397 recovered, 23 deaths; Ramban has 2,104 positive cases, 28 active positive, 2,055 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,624 positive cases, 27 active positive, 1,582 recovered, 15 deaths," reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 20,971 positive cases in J&K, 11,281 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
