2020: Kashmir centric leaders struggled to remain relevant
VIPs of old times lose address in naya J&K

Early Times Report
jammu, Dec 31: The year 2020 has been terrible for politicians, especially in Kashmir.
"The leaders, who used to call shots in the past, were seen struggling to remain relevant all throughout the year," an analyst told Early Times.
He said that the recently held District Development Council (DDC) elections provided a "breather" to the politicians as it helped them to make their presence felt. "Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD)-an amalgam of Kashmir centric parties-had claimed that it would sweep the DDC polls but it didn't happen. Constituents of the PAGD are in a mess as the leaders of these parties have failed to keep their flock together. Even after winning 110 DDC seats the PAGD is finding it difficult to constitute the boards."
It's in place to mention here that there are reports that winning DDC candidates of the PAGD are in touch with other political formations and are abandoning the amalgam due to the chaos and confusion prevailing within the conglomerate.
An observer said that the leaders like Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti and others who till 2019 used to consider themselves as "VIPs" were not even invited to any official functions. "These leaders have lost their relevance due to their wavering stand. Had they toed the nationalist line they would not have met this fate.
Despite these leaders enjoying all the privileges provided by the Centre, they left no opportunity to glorify the separatists and the enemy countries. Mehbooba Mufti openly announced that she won't hold the tricolor till J&K gets its state flag back, while Farooq Abdullah sought China's intervention to get Article 370 restored," the observer added.
He said that these leaders have been sidelined by New Delhi and people in Kashmir too are fed up of their rhetoric and stunts. "The year 2020 has ended their hegemony and they have been left with difficult options to choose," he said.
