Dharmarth Trust employees continue chain hunger strike, seek LG’s intervention

JAMMU, Jan 1: Seeking intervention of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha in resolving demands at the earliest, a large number of employees of Dharmarth Trust, who are on protest for the last 32 days, today continued their ongoing chain hunger strike demanding constitution of Board for all the temples under Dharmarth Trust on the pattern of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board.
A number of employees, including priests from various units of the trust such as Shri Raghunath Mandir, Hari Bhawan Purmandal, Uttarbehni, Birpur and Central Office Karan Bhawan participated in the protest.
Those who sat on chain hunger strike on the fifth day included Hem Raj, Jagjit Chand, Vimal Khajuria, Bablu, Darshan Lal ( guard), Jagdish, Satpal, Rinku Sharma, Asha Devi and Sheela Sharma.
Addressing the gathering, working president Rajinder Shastri warned LG administration to intervene in the matter at the earliest otherwise employees association expedite the agitation and go on long agitation.
The employees association further decided to launch the signature campaigning to garner the support of the public in ongoing agitation.
Shastri also appealed to social, political, religious and civil organizations to come forward for the cause of preserving Dogra heritage and religious places in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir so that tourism is promoted in the UT.
He appealed to all the Sanatan religious people to attend the convention to be held at Geeta Bhawan on January 3, from 12:00 Noon onward and putforth their views for preserving the heritage and historical temples in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir
