PM package employees face accomodation problems in Valley
1/1/2021 11:33:40 PM

Early Times Report
jammu, Jan 1: With the failure of Government to construct time bound quarters for PM package candidates in Kashmir Valley hundreds of package employees are facing accomodation problems at present.
According to sources not only hundreds of employees are without accomodations in Kashmir but also many are occupying shared accomodations at various places due to failure of constructing accomodations in a time bound manner since 2010 when first batch of PM package employees joined their services in Kashmir.
Sources said for the accomodation of the package employees the Government had decided to construct clusters at various places in Kashmir including Vessu in Anantnag district, Hall in Pulwama, Veervan in Baramulla district and Nathunsa in Kupwara district. Besides some quarters were already constructed at Sheikhpora Budgam, Tulmulla Ganderbal and Matram in Anantnag district but these accomodations could only accomodate about 1000 employees while rest were still living in rented accommodation or on shared basis.
Though the construction of more quarters was ordered over years back at Vessu and Sheikhpora but their construction was also delayed constantly with the result the employees are facing many hardships.
At Vessu some quarters after construction were occupied by CRPF and after hard efforts of Relief Organisation they were restored and alloted to employees but the work on other buildings is still incomplete.
Same is case with Sheikhpora in Budgam where the some buildings are yet incomplete and the constructing agencies have not handed over them to Relief Organisation with the result the problems of employees have been further compounded.
Sources said that though Government has decided to construct more accomodations at different places in Valley last month but no headway has been made in this regard till date. This is likely to create accomodation problems for migrant employees after Government has put appointment of 1900 more employees under PM package in process.
