DDC Kishtwar reviews performance of SW, ICDS, Horticulture & Fisheries Departments

KISHTWAR, Jan 4: District Development Commissioner, Kishtwar Ashok Sharma, today chaired the meeting of the officers of Social Welfare, ICDS, Horticulture and fisheries Department and reviewed their performance.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Pawan Parihar, Joint Director Planning, Mohammad Iqbal, District Social Welfare Officer, Tariq Parveaz Qazi, Chief Horticulture Officer, Mushtaq Ahmed Wani, besides Tehsil Social Welfare Officers, Supervisors, health Mobilizes, representatives and other officials of the Departments.
Programme Officer ICDS, Pawan Parihar briefed DDC about the overall performance of ICDS Programs in the district and highlighted the achievements of the department.
He gave a detailed overview of the departmental activities including provision of Supplementary Nutrition, Health Checkups, Awareness to mothers regarding nutrition, Pradhan Mantri Matritva Vandana Yojana, Poshan Abhayaan, Scheme for Adolescent Girls and supply of nutrition items in respect of ICDS Projects in the district.
The DDC also reviewed the status of disbursement of honorarium to ICDS staff and procurement of the nutrition at project level.
While reviewing the functioning of Social Welfare Department, the DSWO presented an overview of various Welfare Schemes of centre and UT, besides briefed about various scholarship programmes being implemented in the district. The DSWO informed in the meeting that 22071 beneficiaries are covered under Pensioner schemes like Integrated Social Security Scheme and National Social Assistance Programme. He further informed that 1095 cases have been sanctioned under SMAS till date and 110 cases are being scrutinized and shall be submitted for sanction at the earliest.
The DDC asked the District Social Welfare officer to ensure effective implementation of all schemes in a focused and concerted way so that the desired objectives are achieved at the grassroots level. He also stressed on creating awareness among the general public about various schemes of child development, women empowerment, health tips for adolescent girls through utilising the latest methods of mass communication as well as social media at village and block level.
