Kashmir: Civil Society to launch crusade for restoration of peace

JAMMU, Jan 4: Fed up with over three decade long blood shed and turmoil, the saner elements among majority community of Kashmir have chalked out a strategy to work for restoration of peace and end to 32 year long blood shed in Valley.
According to reliable sources some intellectuals in Kashmir including University teachers, writers, poets, trade union leaders, social activists, representatives of various NGOs in Kashmir as well as representatives of traders and business community members are in close touch with each other and want to join hands and launch a campaign for restoration of peace in the Valley.
Sources said the civil socity members in Kashmir are of the opinion that common Kashmiri is fed up with 32 year long blood shed and destruction and they want to put a halt on it once for all. In this regard the prominent citizens of Valley are in constant touch with each other and they want to launch a campaign to put an end to the over three decade long turmoil in Valley.
Sources said the intellectuals, writers and trade union leaders have held various informal meeting and they are now roping the prominent citizens in the Valley for the same to mobilise the public opinion in this regard.
Sources said some members of the Civil Society are in touch with members of Kashmiri Pandit community in Jammu and other parts of India as well as members of Sikh community in soliciting their support to make a general appeal to the youth of Kashmir who have gone astray to leave the path of violence so that everlasting peace and tranquility is restored in Valley which can help in return of all people to Kashmir who had been forced to leave Kashmir due to violence and gun culture.
Sources said some of Pandit representatives in Delhi who are also in constant touch with the civil society members and group of intellectuals in Valley have assured full cooperation in this campaign for the greater good of people of J&K which has suffered a heavy loss due to decade long turmoil.
Sources said the members of civil society and prominent citizens of Kashmir have made it clear that the Valley has bleed a lot over the decades and enough is enough. They have also made it clear that people of Kashmir can no long tolerate this blood shed and destruction, sources added.
Sources while quoting some prominent citizens said it is high time when the civil society and well meaning people of Kashmir should come out and make a clarion call to youth of Valley to give peace a chance.
